Easy Homemade Garlic Bread
January 11, 2016
Crusty tender bread with a hint of garlic and butter.
Place oven rack on the middle level and preheat the oven broiler at 475'F. Don't place the oven rack too close to the broiler, or set the broiler on high, otherwise, the edges of the bread edges will blacken before they entirely brown. The further away from the heat source (the broiler), the more evenly the breads will cook and colour. Slice the baguettes into 3/4 inch round slices, at a 45' angle, then set them aside.
In a small bowl, combine the butter, garlic powder, parsley and oregano, using a whisk or a rubber scraper.
Spread about 1 teaspoon of the butter mixture onto each side of each bread, using a rubber scraper. Continue with remaining slices in the same manner, arranging them on an ungreased baking sheet.
Broil slices for about 2 - 4 minutes, or until golden brown, then turn them over and repeat broiling until golden brown. When both sides have been completed, stack them up as a set of fallen dominos, on a large serving platter, or in a basket lined with a linen napkin.
Believe or not, garlic powder works better, in this recipe, than real garlic. But, if you wish to use real garlic, then use 2 – 4 average cloves.
