Apple pie filling made from sugar, flour, salt, almond extract and thinly sliced baking apples. Spooned into a pie shell crust and topped with a brown sugar, flour and butter streusel, and toasted almond slivers.
1 Unbaked Pie Shell Crust
1/2 cup Sugar
2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
1/8 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Almond Extract
7 cups thinly sliced peeled Apples
1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/2 cup packed Brown Sugar
1/4 cup Butter or Margarine, cut into pieces
1/2 cup sliced Almonds
1Preheat oven to 425 F.
2Bake pie shell crust 5 minutes.
3Add filling ingredients to large mixing bowl. Mix well.
4Fold apples into filling mixture to coat.
5Spoon filling into pastry shell.
6Add streusel ingredients to small mixing bowl except almonds. Mix with fork until crumbly.
7Sprinkle streusel mixture over apples.
8Bake apple pie 20 minutes. Cover pie with foil and bake 25 minutes.
9Sprinkle pie with almonds.
10Bake uncovered 3-5 minutes to toast almonds.
11Cool before serving.
