4 lb. Chuck roast

1/4 c. Red wine vinegar

1 c. Onions, sliced

2 tbsp. Shortening

2 Garlic cloves, minced

1/2 c. Catsup

1/2 c. Water

2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp. Rosemary

1 tsp. Salt


1In a heavy saucepan melt shortening and brown roast from all sides.

2 Add garlic and onion.

3Cook until the onion is soft.

4In a bowl combine water, catsup, vinegar, rosemary, salt and Worcestershire sauce; pour over meat.

5Cover and cook on low heat, until meat is tender (2 1/2 hours).

Can be cooked in Slow Cooker (crock pot) but for longer time.
