Chocolate Covered Pretzels Recipe

Ingredients

1 package of semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting chocolates (likeWilton)
 1 tbsp. shortening
1 package pretzels of your choice
small sprinkles, nuts or other candies ( chopped very small) of your choice

Directions

1

Line a jelly roll pan with a sheet of wax paper.

2

Combine the chocolate chips and the shortening in a microwave safe bowl. (If using melting chocolate you will NOT need the shortening. Just follow the directions on the package for melting.)

3

Microwave it on medium high for 20 to 30 seconds at a time stirring every time it stops. You will repeat this until the chocolate is melted. Be careful to watch the chocolate carefully because if it gets too hot it will become too thick and will be ruined. When you take it out of the microwave, if there are still a few un-melted chocolate chunks simply stir until they are all melted.

4

Take a pretzel twist and hold it in between your index finger and thumb and dip it into the melted chocolate until half of the pretzel is covered generously. Let it drip back into the bowl until only a drop or two is left dripping off the pretzel. Place the chocolate covered pretzels on the pan of wax paper and sprinkle them with your desired topping of sprinkles nuts or candy. Repeat with the rest of the large pretzel twists.

5

Refrigerate the pan of chocolate covered pretzels for 20 minutes and remove from the wax paper.

6

Store in an airtight container or in plastic bags with a twist tie (these can be found in the craft aisle at your local craft store or department store).
