Crispy Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients

 About 8 apples
Toss apples in
2/3 cups of sugar, or 1 cup if you dare.
1/4-1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (honestly, I tend to cheat with this and end up putting in almost a full teaspoon)
1/4 teaspoon of fresh ground nutmeg
Topping
1/2 cup of packed brown sugar, no lumps.
1/4 cup white organic sugar (I like the organic stuff better, feel free to use regular sugar if you want)
 3/4 cup unbleached flour
 1/4 tablespoon salt
1/2 a cup of firm butter

Directions

1

After you peel and slice up your apple bits into good sized chunks you’ll want to toss them in the ingredients mentioned on the left side.

2

Next you have to make the topping for the pie.

3

It helps to have a food processor for this part but blend all of the ingredients for topping. If you don’t have a food processor use two knives and cut the ingredients into the butter.

4

Keep doing that till you end up with little crumbles, it shouldn’t be too smooth. If you end up with something that is too smooth, just sprinkle little pieces of it over the pie in the next step.

5

Drop all your spiced apples into your crust into a 9-inch pie shell on top of your already prep crust.

6

Then sprinkle the topping all over the apples in the pie shell. Bake this in a pie dish on a cooking sheet for ~15 minutes at 425 degrees, or until the topping is brown.

7

Then reduce the heat on the pie to ~350 degrees and cook for 35 or 45 minutes.

8

Basically, you want all the apples in the middle to be nice and soft. When they’re soft and the pie has sunk down you should be all set.

9

Let the pie cool and serve warm with vanilla bean ice cream, your guests will love you for it.
