Gumbo Recipe

Ingredients

 3 tbsp. Pillsbury Best All Purpose Flour
 3 tbsp. Oil
 1/2 lb. Smoked sausage, cut into slices
 2 c. Frozen chopped okra
 1 Large Chopped onion
 1 Large Chopped green bell pepper
 3 Minced garlic cloves
 1/4 tsp. Ground red pepper
 1/4 tsp. Pepper
 1 (14.5 oz.) can Tomatoes, undrained and diced
 1 (12 oz.) pk. Frozen shelled, deveined, cooked and rinsed medium shrimp
 1 1/2 c. Uncooked regular long-grain white rice
 3 c. Water

Directions

Combine oil and flour in a saucepan, mix well. Cook the oil and flour mixture over medium to high heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

Reduce heat to medium. While stirring constantly, cook the mixture for 10 minutes more. Put the mixture in Slow Cooker.

Stir in smoked sausage, okra, onion, green bell pepper, garlic cloves, ground bell pepper, pepper and tomatoes. Cover and cook on low setting for 7 to 9 hours.

Once it is done, cook rice in water as said on the package. In the meantime, add shrimp to gumbo mixture in slow cooker and mix well. Cover and cook on low setting for another 20 minutes.

Serve gumbo mixture over rice.
