Gochujang Mayo Recipe

Enjoy this quick and easy spicy Korean-inspired mayo on all your favorite foods! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (regular or Japanese Kewpie mayo)
  • 1-2 tablespoons gochujang paste, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lime or lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (optional)

Instructions

  • Add the mayonnaise and gochujang paste to a small bowl. For a milder flavor, start with 1 tablespoon gochujang and add more to taste.
  • Add the lime or lemon juice, sesame oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper if using.
  • Whisk all ingredients together until fully incorporated and orange in color.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Add more gochujang for more heat.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Kewpie mayonnaise has a richer umami flavor compared to regular mayo, but both work well.
  • For spicier mayo, gradually add more gochujang paste until desired heat level is reached.
  • Gochujang mayo makes an excellent condiment for burgers, sandwiches, tacos, fries, nuggets, and more.
  • If you don't have gochujang, you can sub sriracha or other chili pastes.
  • Customize it by adding spices, herbs, garlic, sesame oil, vinegar, etc.
  • Keep refrigerated and use within 1 week for best freshness.
