Anise Biscotti Recipe

Ingredients

 1 c. Sugar
 1/2 c. Softened margarine or butter
 2 tsp. Ground anise seed
 2 tsp. Lemon peel, grated
 2 Eggs
 3 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
 1 tsp. Baking powder
 1/2 tsp. Salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a bowl beat sugar, butter, lemon peel, anise seed and eggs with an electric mixer on medium speed or you can simply mix it with a spoon. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt.

On an ungreased cookie sheet divide dough and shape each half into rectangle.

Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool on cookie sheet for about 15 minutes

Cut crosswise into slices and turn them cut sided down on cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes more.

Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack and let it cool completely.
