Elderberry Powder Recipe

Making homemade elderberry powder involves just 5 steps:

Ingredients
  

  • Using scissors, collect at least 30 large ripe elderberry heads. Remove the berries from the bitter stems and leaves. Wash thoroughly.

Dry the Berries

  • There are three drying methods:
  • Sun-dry: Spread berries in one layer on parchment paper for 7-9 days.
  • Dehydrator: Dry at 130°F for 4-5 hours.
  • Oven: Dry at 120°F for 15-30 minutes per batch.
  • Berries are fully dry when no moisture remains inside.

Grind the Berries

  • Use a dedicated grinder to grind the dried berries into a fine powder.

Store in Airtight Container

  • Keep powder in a sealed, dark container in a cold, dry place.
